angela’s Social Impact Initiative:

As Miss Chinese Boston 2022, I would like to:

  • Addresses climate change in all its forms as it impacts all of us, no matter where we are geographically

  • Advance the issue of climate action as the marginalized voices of Boston face the brunt of the rising sea levels

  • Continue working on climate action projects and highlight climate change by combining the humanities and STEM

I am nothing if not the product of my parents’ sacrifices. I am not who I am without the tears it took to say goodbye to Szechuan, China. I am not who I am without the wary eyes from waking up at five in the morning to endorse my childhood fantasy of becoming an Olympic champion in figure skating. I am not who I am without the stress lines from paying for me to travel halfway across the country for national debate tournaments. They do not have to tell me “我爱你” for me to have grown up knowing it is undoubtedly true.

To be Chinese American is to have experienced sacrifice, whether passed down or directly. This ties into the Chinese American Heritage Foundation’s Mission, which sits at the intersection of so many crossroads. For so long, the sacrifices of the Chinese community in the United States have been erased or dismissed. It is time to celebrate them instead.
